The VCU Center for Trauma and Critical Care Education is the largest prehospital and critical care education center in the region, and offers a wide array of educational services in support of healthcare professionals in multiple disciplines.
In partnership with the VCU Health System, we offer Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, and Paramedic training courses, preparing new clinicians for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification exam, and initial licensure.
The CTCCE today offers over 20 continuing education programs for healthcare providers, including ACLS, ATLS, ASSET, and others. We are an American Heart Association Training Center, a National Association of EMS's Training Center, and we are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
CTCCE is one of several VCU Health service lines that directly interact with regional EMS providers and agencies. CTCCE is committed to collaborating with VCU Health departments to assist EMS providers in education and patient follow-up.
Some courses are offered through other departments in partnership with the CTCCE. We have the expertise, infrastructure, and educational space to provide course coordination for courses of almost any size and in any subject, while subject matter experts handle the actual instruction of the course. Contact Marquita Whisonant about course administration for your professional development courses.
With subject matter experts and clinical resources in a variety of disciplines, the CTCCE can develop custom curricula to meet specific training needs. We have developed a wide range of courses over the past 20 years, including full training courses for international medical groups, the United States military, and other departments at VCU Health. For more information on custom curricular development, contact J. Adam Alford.
With expertise and resources for high-fidelity simulation, the CTCCE is able to help EMS agencies develop programs that ensure their clinicians maintain proficiency in low-frequency, high-risk procedures such as RSI.
