EMS Training Programs

The CTCCE training programs in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced EMT (AEMT), and Paramedic. Applicants do NOT apply through VCU. These programs do not offer academic credit, although there is an articulation agreement in place with Reynold Community College to award comparable credit once certification is obtained.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

The CTCCE typically offers EMT courses on the MCV Campus during the Spring, Summer, and Fall academic semesters. Completers of the EMT Program are eligible to sit for national EMT certification exams. Please visit the EMT Program page here for detailed information.

Paramedic

The CTCCE offers several Paramedic courses throughout the region. Depending on the need, these courses may meet one or two days per week, usually for 8 hours per day. A traditional paramedic course that meets one day per week will take about 16 months to complete. Start dates for courses may vary, depending on need, but typically start during the Spring or Fall academic semesters.

Advanced placement courses for those with existing Virginia Intermediate or Registered Nurse are offered. These are designed to reduce the amount of time in class by building on clinical knowledge and experience.

Visit the Paramedic Program page for more information and to see upcoming courses.
