EMT Completion Course

The EMT Completion Course additional didactic modules, in-person lab sessions, and a clinical component. These must be completed within the semester. When planning work/academic load, please anticipate the EMT Completion Course the equivalent of an 8 credit hour course. 

Additional Online Didactic Components

There are an addition FIVE online modules that must be completed. Each module also includes a Unit Exam.

These courses are completed asynchronously (no specific time to log in). However, the modules will have specific due dates throughout the semester. Students may be excused from the program for not completing the online modules by their due dates. 

Required Materials: Students will use the same textbook and FISDAP Assessment package from the EMT Prep Course.

In-person Lab Sessions

The course meets 7 hours per week for in-person skills and review. 

Pre-Lab Assignments: Students will be expected to complete additional pre-lab assignments before each lab. These pre-labs may take about 30 minutes to complete.

Lab Meeting Times: Either two evenings per week 6:30PM-10PM or one* day per week (8AM-5PM). (*not offered every semester).

Required Attendance: Students may only miss two 3.5-hour sessions. This is TWO evenings per week or ONE full day. Students are required to make up any missed skills.

Required Materials: EMS Skills tracker app, EMS-style pants or black or navy work pants. Program T-shirt (included with registration fees). 

Optional Materials: Stethoscope. 

EMT Clinical

Students will schedule a clinical shift in the ER with a clinical instructor.  There will be multiple times to sign up.  These sessions typically meet in the evenings and on weekends. 

In those sessions, students will practice patient assessment and interviewing, coordinating clinical pathology to signs and symptoms they are observing, and will see the continuum of care for emergency patients.  Students must get at least 10 patient contacts.

Required Materials: EMS Skills tracker app, EMS-style pants or black or navy work pants. Program T-shirt (included with registration fees). 

Optional Materials: Stethoscope. 

EMT Field

Students will be required to ride at least one EMT Field shift with a partnering agency. Students are expected to get a minimum of two patient contacts in the field. 

Required Materials: EMS Skills tracker app, EMS-style pants or black or navy work pants. Program T-shirt (included with registration fees). 

Optional Materials: Stethoscope.
