Faculty Biosketch
John "Mark" Kain is a retired Assistant Fire Chief, paramedic, and experienced Fire and EMS educator with more than three decades of service in public safety, healthcare, and academic training environments. His career has included leadership roles in emergency operations, workforce development, life support education, and training program oversight. Mark has taught EMT, paramedic, fire science, BLS, ACLS, and PALS courses and has served in instructional and coordination roles with Virginia Peninsula Community College and Riverside Health System.
Throughout his career, Mark has focused on developing learners, supporting instructors, improving training systems, and maintaining high standards for clinical and operational readiness. He received his Bachelor of Applied Science in Fire Science Administration from Waldorf University, and he is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at William & Mary. Mark is especially interested in improving outcomes in cardiac arrest.
