How do I register?

The best way to register is to sign up online in real time with a credit or debit card. You may also register by printing out a registration form and mailing it with a check/money order. Your registration must be accompanied with payment. We do not accept cash.

VCUHS employees are eligible to take BLS through the Learning Exchange at the hospital. Access to the learning exchange is available through the VCU Health System Intranet.

VCU/VCUHS Residents and Fellows who wish to register for a course at the CTCCE and will use GME or department funds should seek prior approval from their department.

VCU/VCUHS employees with the Exchange Program are still required to turn in department/unit approval forms with applicable payment and/or billing information.

How do I change or cancel my registration?

Once registered you must make changes through our online system. The deadline for canceling all courses is two weeks prior to your course start date.  If you sign up for a class and cannot make it please be sure to cancel your reservation online so the spot can be opened for others. We cannot take phone cancellations.  

You will not receive a refund if you late cancel or do not show up for class. Your department will be charged the cost of the course if you do not follow proper cancellation procedures. Students who have multiple no shows/late cancels may be removed from future class reservations.

We understand that emergencies happen so if you have a legitimate emergency that results in a late cancel please e-mail us at ctcce@vcuhealth.org and let us know (after cancelling yourself from the course online).

Packets & Pre-test Information: A pre-course packet will be emailed to you approximately two weeks prior to the course. For ACLS, ATLS, and PALS this will include information regarding a mandatory pretest that you will access online.  You must met the prerequisites outlined in your course packet in order to be admitted to the course.  If a pre-test is required you must have your printed score with you at check-in. You will not be allowed to take the pre-test during the course and you will not be admitted without it. No exceptions.  

Course Manual Information: If a book was included in your registration it will be mailed to you unless you are VCU/VCUHS staff. Staff is required to pick up his/her text from our office and will be notified when the text is ready for pick up.  All dvds, key codes and manuals are final sale.

Courses that include textbooks are the provider courses for ACLS, ATLS, BLS, and PALS.

Courses that do NOT include textbooks but maybe purchased with registration are the recert courses for ACLS, BLS, ATLS, and PALS.


Books are not included with CCEMT-P, EMT, or Paramedic Program registration and must be purchased separately. Purchase information will be provided with your course packet.

ECC Handbooks are available for course participants for a fee upon registration check out.

Loaners: CTCCE no longer offers loaners. Please check with your individual unit/department to inquire about loaner texts.

Provider Cards?

ACLS, BLS, and PALS provider cards are mailed to participants within 20 business days of successfully completing a course. NAEMT course certificates are mailed within in one week of course completion. There is a $10 fee for replacement cards.

What about Parking?

Parking is not included in your registration fee. The Greater Richmond Transit Company maintains a current downtown parking guide and map. Check here for alerts.
